Bro. Robert Schalm, A Life Member

Robert H. Schalm, 81, of Dallas, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Advent Health at Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Born in Kingston, May 18, 1940, he was the son of the late Paul and Freida Schalm.

He graduated from Forty Fort High School and Admiral Farragut Academy. He received his degree and commission in the U.S. Navy from Penn State University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served as a lieutenant on the USS Lorain County (LST1177) and the USS Tolovana (A064) and was an observer of the last hydrogen bomb tests off of Christmas Island in the South Pacific.

Bob was president of Rohans Inc., a manufacturer representative company and in later years a member of the Merchandise Execution Team at Home Depot.

He was a member of George M. Dallas Lodge 531, Caldwell Consistory, Irem Shrine, National Association of Atomic Veterans, a volunteer at the American Red Cross and a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Bob enjoyed playing golf, tennis and skiing. He was an avid Penn State football fan and season ticket holder.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Karen Ann Brek; and his brother, Paul J. Schalm.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Schalm Mosier and husband, Sam; Connie R. Schalm, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Katherine Schalm Nance and husband, Scott, Sanford, Fla.; grandson, Kory B. Schalm, Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Carole Schalm Ertley, Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
